BACU Association and U Tours are jointly coordinating a six-day research study tour through Romania, dedicated to the critical examination of socialist modernist architecture and its associated monumental art traditions. The programme encompasses major urban centres — Bucharest, Timișoara, Cluj-Napoca, Oradea, Satu Mare, Baia Mare, Suceava, and Bacău — as well as the industrial townscapes of the Valea Jiului mining settlements and the region’s mountain landscapes.
Notable sites include the State Circus in Bucharest, the mosaic murals of Timișoara’s West University, and the Workers’ Cultural Palaces of Baia Mare and Bacău. BACU’s heritage listing specialists provide architectural interpretation, on-site documentation, and heritage assessment guidance throughout, while U Tours ensures comprehensive logistical support.
